Kelly & Ryan at Quantock Lakes

Night time magic

It was our first time shooting at Quantock Lake and we were really looking forward to it. Sadly, the weather decided it wasn’t going to play fair on the day, but nothing was going to stop Kelly and Ryan laughing.

We arrived in the posh piggery to find Kelly and her girls getting ready. Kelly’s gorgeous dress was from Wed 2 Be and her bridesmaids elegant navy dressed were from Next.

Ryan and his two best men got ready in another cottage. Quantock Lakes has a great array of accomodation which is rare in a barn venue.

What album cover does this belong on?

Once we had Kelly in her dress, and looking spectacular, I guided her bridesmaids into the bedroom. Mum was feeling emotional so couldn’t handle the possibility of a make up disaster with a reveal.

First look

We then had a bit of time to get some portraits of the girls done.

What a dress!

They were such a lovely group of girls who were obviously very fond of each other.

Selfie time

A quick touch up and it was time to go.

Last minute touches

Kelly’s step dad Eric escourted her through the rain down to the car. It’s a short walk over to the venue from the accomodation, but the rain made a car a necessity.

Rain on my parade

Being the strong, independent woman that she is, Kelly walked down the aisle solo.

Making an entrance

The ceremony was lovely. Everyone cracked up when Kelly went very slowly through her vows, she explained that she didn’t want to say “Awful wedded husband” – it certainly broke the ice.

Making it official

The rain meant that we were very quickly losing light. There was a small break in the weather so we grabbed the couple to venture outside. To be honest, it was boggier and slippier than I had expected, but they were troupers.

Love in the rain

Kelly had told me that they weren’t a lovey dovey couple and were more interested in some fun shots. My aim was to make them laugh, and gladly, my bad jokes worked.

He cracks her up

The gorgeous lake at Quantock Lakes was not looking it’s best in the rain. It was starting to come down hard at this point so we made a run for indoors

Across the lake

Back indoors, they could get warm by the fire.

The speeches after the delicious dinner were very funny indeed. Zoe, Kelly’s sister went first, followed by Ryan and then the two best men. They had everyone in stitches.

The speeches

The great thing about winter weddings is that we can get creative in the dark. I absolutely love this image we created with the smoke bombs.

We had a bit of fun with the bridal party for the next one.

Last ones standing!

There was time for everyone to relax before the disco started.

Caught in the frame

The DJs got everyone up around the dancefloor for the first dance. Kelly & Ryan chose “Good thing going” for their first hug and shuffle as husband and wife. The party really got going after this.
