Dad's first look

Daddy’s Little Girl, and his first look

It is no secret that one of my favourite moments of any wedding, is when Dad sees his baby girl dressed as a bride for the first time. It’s enough to bring even the hardest nut to tears, and I love it.

Maybe it’s because I lost my own father before I got married, but this moment is really special to me. I love it when a man isn’t afraid to show his emotions. I often get completely choked up. This moment is so special, especially if you have a good relationship with your dad. My dad was my best friend, I would hope that he would have done me proud.

When the bride is ready, I clear the room. It’s important that this moment is private for the best posible chance of making dad cry. If he has an audience he’s less likely to lose it. I know I sound cruel, but I love making dad’s cry (just in this instance, you understand)

It’s not all about the dad’s you know. Sometimes our girls are closer to their mother. Quite often mum will have gone shopping with their daughter, but there is something so special about seeing your baby girl all ready to become a wife.

It’s also fun to get your friends’ reactions. Your bridesmaids are usually your nearest and dearest, the girls you champion you and cheer you on. So when you see the joy they feel for you, knowing you look your very best, well, that can’t be bought.

I really recommend that you limit the number of people who see your dress, even just a photo of it, before your wedding. You only get one chance to make a first impression, so who wouldn’t want that first viewing of you in your dress to be when you look your best. Your hair and make up will be done and you’ll have that bridal glow. When you get the reaction seen in these photos, the feeling will live with you forever. “Oh WOW” gives you goosebumps and has a much bigger impact than “Oh yeah, there she is in the dress, I’ve seen it before”. I know which I’d rather.

Until my next ramblings.

Stay Happy and in Love

I’ve enjoyed reading this. Thanks for giving me the idea to keep my dress a secret.
